Eligibility Criteria for All Courses

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
  • Applicant must Pass in H.S. or equivalent examination provided the candidate has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
  • No student shall be allowed to take admission after a lapse of more than 3 years (excluding the current year) from the year of passing the previous qualifying exam.
  • An applicant cannot select a subject in the degree level in which she has failed in H.S. or equivalent examination as per C.U. norms.
  • Candidates applying for Education as a Major Course must have studied Education or any one of the related subjects from the following list in H.S. or equivalent Examination:
    Psychology/Philosophy/Mathematics/Sociology/Economics/PoliticalScience/History/Statistics/Physics/Chemistry/Biology.
  • Candidates applying for Sociology as a Major Course should have passed in Science/Humanities/Arts stream in H.S. or equivalent examination. Students from Commerce stream are not eligible for the course.
  • Candidates who passed H.S. (10+2) Vocational Examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Vocational Education and Training are eligible for admission to B.A. (Multidisciplinary)Course taking subjects under Humanities Discipline only.
  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from the All-India Boards / Councils (i.e., CBCS, ISC & National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit Migration Certificate for University registration.
  • For applicants of Four-Year B.A/B.Sc. (Honours & Honours with Research) Minimum Marks to be obtained in the subject to be taken up as Major Course is as follows:
    1. 50% Marks in aggregate (#) and 45% Marks in the subject/related subject at the previous qualifying examination

      Or

    2. 55% Marks in the subject /related subject at the previous qualifying examination

      Or

    3. 50% Marks in aggregate (#) (when the subject / related subject not studied) at the previous qualifying examination

      Or

    4. 40% Marks in aggregate (#) or 40% Marks in the subject/related subject (for Reserved Categories)

(# Aggregate = Total Marks obtained in TOP FOUR subjects excluding compulsory Environmental Education/Studies. However, if a subject "Environmental Science" is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks it may be considered for the purpose of determining aggregate marks.)
